Hotel Parador de Oropesa

Overlooking the historic centre, the Parador de Oropesa is a 4 star hotel in the province of Toledo, Spain. The town is famed for its rectangular historic quarter, which is packed with churches and noble palaces dating from the early middle ages until the 17th century. The 15th century town hall, the Jesuit college and church of San Bernardo are all worth a visit, as well as the 12th century castle, which is adjacent to the hotel. In the 15th century the Álvarez de Toledo family, the Counts of Oropesa, decided to build a new family palace more luxurious and comfortable than the town's rather draughty castle next door. Now transformed into the Parador de Oropesa Hotel, you can stay in the palace where soldiers, clergymen and nobles once slept and enjoy its commanding view of the Sierra de Gredos mountains and the plains of the Campo Arañuelo. The Parador de Oropesa Hotel has a large outdoor swimming pool with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. You can also sample the local area's produce in the hotel's restaurant, which serves many regional specialities.
